Peak 11 Conflict Resolution: a proposed procedure

The constitution of Peak 11 (the Izaak Walton Agreement) recognises the fundamental principle of subsidiarity in its membership.

It is quite possible that from time to time not all issues shared by the Peak 11 Federation will be universally agreed; hopefully these matters can be talked through and a broad consensus achieved.

However, in the event of a substantial disagreement between member schools within Peak 11, the following steps may be used in an attempt to resolve issues:

  1. The disputants initially meet with the Chair of Peak 11 to seek a way forward. (If one of the disputants is the Chair then a neutral colleague will be sought)
  2. If a resolution cannot be achieved from the meeting above, then the issue will be shared by two more members of Peak 11 for consideration and advice – one from the High Peak and one from the Dales.
  3. If no resolution can be found this way then two further routes are available:
    • the issue could be raised with the entire membership of Peak 11 for consideration and advice
    • the issue could be raised at the Strategic Board, who under section 2.1 of the Izaak Walton Agreement will “arbitrate in cases of dispute between the members of the executive when a majority of the executive so wish”
